Steppets

Developed over a weekend in a team of five, this 3D puzzle game was created using Unity and C#. It earned 2nd place in Itch.io Macro Jam #6 with nearly 300 community ratings.
The project gave me the opportunity to explore a new engine and genre, while enhancing my skills in gameplay programming, mechanics design, and problem-solving in 3D environments while dealing with a very restricting deadline.

Puzzle and Player Logic

I designed and programmed the puzzle system based on a turn-based grid map, along with the enemy logic, ensuring a bug-free experience that prevented exploits and required players to use the intended mechanics to complete the levels.

Traps and Map Mechanics

I developed and co-designed various types of traps that added variety to the levels, making the game engaging for players. Both the maps and traps were programmed with iteration in mind, enabling the team to efficiently test and refine levels—an essential approach given the tight deadline of a weekend game jam.

Level and Gameplay Design

I contributed to the design of several levels and the game’s core mechanics. The focus was not only on creating diverse levels that integrated traps and mechanics, but also on teaching players how to use them, ensuring a smooth difficulty curve that kept the game engaging without being too easy or frustrating.
